For my music promotion package I have decided to use a local singe called Lauren Figurski who also plays in a band. The genre she performs varies but she mostly covers pop punk bands. I have decided to create a pop punk genre style promotion package with her.
Although having a female vocalist for my media project I didn't want to follow the conventions of female artists by having a picture of her on the cover with lights and glitter ect. I decided to use band album covers for my inspiration as we will be using a band for the music. I like how many of these albums use a layering technique and are more like pieces of art instead a band/artist photo. I like how the colours on many of these covers have been enhanced brighter to help the album capture the audience when sitting on a shelf in store or being advertised online. These covers still follow the conventions of having the band/artists name on the top usually in big bold text, often being white text on busy and loud covers, although not every album shows the name of the album. The primary colours (blue/yellow/red) and secondary colours such as green are used frequently on the covers. The band/artists usually have logos that are used on things like websites, clothing, ect. and have been used on many of the albums, the logo sometimes replaces the band/artists name on the cover as the logo becomes more recognizable. I really like the idea of not just using a picture of the band/artist on the cover and making the album cover something more like a piece of art. I like the idea of using two or three colours and using different shades of them on the cover, I think it would over confuse and complicate the cover if it used lots of different colours, and don't think it will make the cover look professional.
